Free Bet Bookmaker’s Sunday preview

As you can see, the bookmakers don't really know what's going on today. Algeria are 5/2 and Slovenia are 6/5. So nobody is really an overwhelming favourite - or nobody is betting on this game. Either way, it shows a distinct lack of decisiveness on the part of the bookmakers. Serbia vs Ghana is equally undecided, with similar odds for both sides, and Serbia potentially the favourites. Once more, I'm sitting on the fence until I know a little more, because the more you look at it, the more confusing it gets.

Are Ghana really the cohesive unit that some critics believe? Could Serbia be as good as the Yugoslavs of old (quarter finalist possibles)? We actually don't have a clue. Even tonight, with Germany's youngsters coming up against a passionate yet average Australia side, there's little that we can predict with any sureness. However, tonight I'll be backing the Germans, because whenever they are discounted, they seem to come up trumps.

Shorn of their stars, the Germans are always a cohesive unit and that can disarm the passion and the gusto of the Australians tonight. However, it's tomorrow that really does pique the interest. Holland get their campaign underway against Denmark, and we get to see Cameroon for the first time - and in the evening, we see if the World champions have something left in the locker against Paraguay. Today, though, let's take the missus shopping.
