Get £100 cash or £200 free bet by spread betting with Sporting Index
First of all - the offer. Sporting Index will offer you £100 in cash, or a free bet worth £200 on the football if you apply for an account today. Remember, this is spread betting, so they at least ask if you have a bank account or not! You then have to place five bets with the potential to win or lose £20, and they'll give you £100 in cash credited to your account - or a free £200 wager on the footie.
Now it's not every site that will be so generous - so if you're new to spread betting, here are a few examples and tips thrown in so that you can get yourself started.
1. Tennis
Sporting Index are offering odds on the US Open - and if you think that Andy Murray will lose to Del Potro, then you're going to find some rather generous offers at Sporting Index. The Men's Outright Tennis market works like this: The winner = 60 points, the runner-up = 40pts, losing semi-finalist = 20pts, and the losing quarter finalist = 10pts. Del Potro is currently being offered at a spread of 14-17. In other words, Sporting Index don't think he will beat Murray in the quarter final (Murray is 23-27).
So in this case, you would BUY Del Potro or SELL Andy Murray. You enter your stake, let's say £10 in this case. If Del Potro wins, and goes on to lose the semi-final, then you would be 3 points over - hence £30. If he goes on to win the whole thing, he gets 60 points and you would win £430.
So - to SELL is to 'go low' and to BUY is to 'go high'. What you get is the difference between the spread and the actual result.
2. Football
What I like most is the 'banker' bets - you can select three matches from the traditional coupon - let's say Spain, Sweden and Poland from the forthcoming international games. When you play your accumulator with a traditional bookmaker, someone always comes along and ruins everything. Here, you are quoted a spread for the three games - in this case, the spread is 20-23.
If all three win, then you get 50 points - and you also get 10 points if these teams score four goals or more. Now that's what we're looking for. The potential winnings here are between £270 and £570 - your potential losses are £200. So in international football, you're really looking for the teams that are going to get a total tonking.
3. Cricket
Sporting Index will offer spread betting on a number of markets, but the most interesting is the total number of runs in a series for a batsman. If you think, for example, Ian Bell will score a lot of runs in India (and he should, it's the perfect place for a wristy batsman like him and Indian pitches have been glorious of late), then Sporting Index will offer a spread. If Michael Vaughan gets back in - I would personally go high as he has always liked playing on the sub-continent.
