Well, a couple of days ago, Martin Kaymer was 33/1 for the Open, and we snapped up those odds immediately. Why? Because we had seen the weather forecast. Rory McIlroy was installed the 6/1 favourite, and is now second favourite to the German. This is only fair, because Kaymer is an all-weather specialist - if there can be such a golfer. He's got form in wet and windy conditions, while McIlroy is a golfer who, despite being brought up on links golf, prefers to hit the ball high with no wind.

Paddy Power are offering 12/1 against Charl Schwartzel and he has to be considered a brilliant each-way bet. South Africans have a fantastic record in the Open, and Schwartzel will be hoping for a Grand Slam double. You'll get 1/4 the odds for a top 4 finish - that's 3/1 that he ends up in the first four on Sunday. That's not bad, and if you want another South African, George Coetzee is currently -2 and going well. He's 22/1.

If you want to wait until the last minute, and live betting is your thing, then try Bet365 which is the bookie that offers by far the widest range of in-play betting options. They're offering £200 in free bets if you want to give that a go.
