Big Brother Betting: Odds and Special offers from Paddy Power

The countdown is well and truly underway to Big Brother with just over 24 hours to go until Davina takes to the stage and introduces us to the BB10 contestants.

The former daddy of reality shows is not expected to attract as much viewers or bets this year. Irish bookmaker Paddy Power is estimating £1million/€1.16million will be bet on this year’s show with an industry figure of £15million/€17.4million expected to be riding on the outcome. This compares to a total estimate of £1.25million and £17million last year.

But Paddy Power are hoping that their generous money back special on this year’s Big Brother will entice more people to bet. On a show where literally anything can happen, it can sometimes be difficult to predict the winner in the early days. So to help make the difficult decision a little easier Paddy Power are offering to refund bets on the housemate that finishes second in this year’s show.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power, said: “We’re hoping there’s a bit of life in the old dog yet! The success of this year’s show will depend on what the housemates are like, so the more controversial and the more interesting the better. This year we’re giving our punters the opportunity to put their money where their thoughts are with the guarantee that they’ll get their money back if their housemate is unlucky enough to finish second.”

And viewing figures aren’t tipped to be much better either with Paddy Power offering just 9/4 that between 4.5 and 5 million people will tune in to watch the launch show. It’s a far cry from the average 8.2milion that tuned in throughout the 2006 series and the 9.4m+ that Big Brother 3 boasted in 2002.
