Football tips for the weekend from the Free Bet Bookie
This weekend looks like one of those "could it really happen?" weekends with several teams having greater chances than usual to get a result.
I'm talking, of course, about Wigan's trip to Arsenal, for one - where Arsenal's shaky form against sides that like to get their foot stuck in will be truly tested. The Gunners have been like a bunch of big girls this year - one week they're outplaying the likes of Man Utd or Chelsea, the next they're weeping because a Stoke player left his stud marks down Robin Van Persie's shin.
Wigan blow hot and cold, but a draw at the Emirates would not be out of the question, and 10/3 with paddy power (free bet of £20 for a £10 deposit) is generous.
And what happened to Bolton last weekend? Or more likely, what really happened at Sunderland. However, Bolton v Chelsea is another game that leaves you thinking - well, what if? I'd be more inclined, as a betting man, to look at Hull City beating Boro (they need a break) and Liverpool carrying on their excellent record at hapless Blackburn Rovers. I don't rate Paul Ince as a manager at all, and I'm sure many Blackburn fans think the same way. 3 points to Liverpool.
Fulham v Man City is another interesting match. I'd go for Fulham in this one, at 13/8. Good home form, a solid back four - Roy Hodgson has got this lot going nicely and just as I predicted at the start of the season, they're going to avoid the drop (remember - spread betting offer - the spread was 39-40 points).
Everton vs Villa has a draw written all over it. The Blues were magnificent at Spurs last weekend, but only have Victor Anichebe left up front and to be honest, he's not much of a player. Villa have been off their game lately, but Everton's dodgy home form and slight revival makes me think that this one will end up all square. 11/5 is about right.
Your banker in the Championship has to be Birmingham at home to Watford, and looking further down, Wolves visit QPR in a game they should be thinking about winning if they really want to win this league. That will be key, and I'll back them here.
Looking further ahead, look no further than Stade Francais who will be playing Harlequins at the Stade Francais in the rugby. A full crowd of nearly 80,000 will be cheering them on and I've seen them at home - they're unstoppable. Take them with the nine point penalty on offer from Paddy Power - that's 10/11. Easy.
