Long odds special - Windies and Jo?

This may not be the greatest West Indies side ever, but they're not as bad as some people are painting them. With Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul in their line-up, they're actually no worse than England who rely heavily on Kevin Pietersen to get all the runs for them. I'd say that the 11-4 against the West Indies to win this first test is way too long, and should be taken. In fact, if you always take Chanderpaul to be their top runscorer (which happens at least 50% of the time), those odds of 5/2 seem very interesting.

That's where you should be looking - as England are massively overrated by their own fans and by the bookmakers (who base their odds on patriotic fans backing England despite their terrible recent record). Yes, England should win in the West Indies, but they should have done better in India, and they should have done better against South Africa in the summer.

The other decent bet at the moment is Jo, who has been quoted at 5/6 to score more than 3 goals this season for Everton. That's 4 goals or more, folks - 5/6. You'll almost double your money, and seeing as Everton are a very good side at the moment without a centre-forward, imagine what Jo could actually do. Jo didn't receive a fair crack of the whip at Citeh where Mark Hughes seems to have a habit of falling out with Brazilians, but under the stewardship of David Moyes, expect to see more of the Jo that fared so well in Russia. Top player, top team, he should be scoring a hatful.

New Zealand are also 7/4 to beat Australia in the second ODI - and can Australia really lose yet another match? They were woeful at the WACA, frankly, and it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see Michael Clarke leading them out in the Ashes this summer. However, the best odds you'll find are those on the Windies - and specifically Shivnarine Chanderpaul - at the moment.
