Odds and tips for the weekend - go for Rennes and Fulham

There's something reliable about Everton at the moment that makes them the prime team to bet on. They're not conceding many goals, and neither are Manchester United, so the draw at 10/3 - or the 0-0 draw at 17/2 make for interesting odds. If Jagielka keeps the Utd front line quiet, and Vidic continues to frustrate forwards (of which Everton have none), then this could be a stalemate. Everton's poor form at Old Trafford, however, leads me to suspect that they might ship one or two, in which case, bet in play.

The other thing about Everton is that they've got to play Liverpool again in midweek, and that arch idiot Alan Wylie is the referee. This almost guarantees an Everton red card at some point - and why not a Liverpool red card too? At least it's not Old Mother Riley, but Alan Wylie is one of the most card-happy, appalling referees in the Premiership and he hates Scousers. Wait for the odds on a red card in the derby when they're produced, as this is almost a certainty.

Today could see a reversal of fortune for Hull as they take on West Brom at the KC Stadium. It's been a while since Hull got any points and they've been in freefall, but a home game against the Baggies, who are no great travellers, could be just the tonic. I've also got my eye on Arsenal vs West Ham - I don't trust the Gunners at all, they're lily-livered types and with Carlton Cole proving to be a handful of late, I'll be laying Arsenal with the option of betting in-play as well.

Middlesborough are not a side to bet on at the moment, and with the visit of Blackburn, who are unbeaten under Sam Allardyce, a draw might be on the cards as the two cancel each other out down at the bottom of the table. Blackburn are starting to grind out results - it's time Middlesborough did the same.

Another two sides in freefall are Fulham and Portsmouth. I have no idea why Tony Adams is in charge at Pompey, he proved he wasn't a very good manager at Wycombe, so why he was given a chance in the Premiership eludes me. Anyway, that said, his side go to Fulham who have to start turning around a poor run of form. With Pompey in town, they can do just that - I'd take them to edge this one, if the pitch isn't frozen!

In France, Rennes are a strange 5/6 to beat Toulouse at home - Rennes are a revelation this year, and have brought in a bit of cash for many avid followers of the French game. They even have a chance of winning the title, with Lyon proving to be a shade off-colour. For once, the French title is wide open and despite the strength of the Toulouse side, I'd be taking Rennes to win at very generous odds.

So, if I were to double up this weekend, I'd be taking Rennes and Fulham, with an optional treble of Rennes/Fulham/Man Utd 0-0 Everton. The rest, it's up to you.

Get a free 20 pound bet from Paddy Power when you deposit £10 today - yup, that's a double-your money offer - and take Fulham at evens - that'll cover you. Of course you don't have to take Fulham, there's plenty more on offer. And as I said, wait for Alan 'Card Happy' Wylie to send someone off at Goodison Park on Wednesday. Easy money.
