Odds from Paddy Power on the colour of the Queen’s hat

Bookie Paddy Power could be feeling a little green around the gills at Royal Ascot’s Ladies Day on Thursday if Her Majesty dons a green hat at the races.

Paddy Power’s famous hat colour betting has seen its first betting plunge of the year with a nationwide punt on green. The colour has come in from an opening 3/1 to just 11/10.

Paddy Power himself said: “It’s rare that the opening favourite proves correct in the Queen’s Hat betting but we’re seeing a definite preference in the early running this year. If Her Majesty does goes green then punters will be cheering her all the way down the course as well as collecting a fair wedge of greenbacks from the bookies.”

One lucky punter from Sheffield who landed a max bet that Her Majesty would wear pink at The Derby two weeks ago has also returned with a lumpy wager on green at 3/1. Other colours in the running include yellow at 5/1 and orange at 6/1 with the ever popular cream/beige at 8/1.
