Poyet or Grayson for Leeds say bookies - latest odds
Gus Poyet is the Evens money favourite to be the next manager of Leeds United according to bookie Paddy Power.
Poyet is the dominant name to be attracting money and a return to the club where many believed he was the brains in the management team that saw Leeds overcome a 15 point deficit to narrowly miss out on promotion last season. The Uruguayan had opened the betting as the 4/1 favourite.
In 24 hours of frenetic betting at Paddy Power, Leeds United’s official betting partner, other names attracting significant money include Blackpool’s Simon Grayson who has been well backed on Monday morning from 10/1 to 3/1 as well as former Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd at 5/1.
Beyond the front-runners other contenders include Roberto Di Matteo at 9/1 and Billy Davies at 12/1 whilst recently sacked Premier League managers Paul Ince and Roy Keane are 16/1 and 25/1, respectively. Eric Cantona is a 100/1 outsider.
Paddy Power said: “Leeds may be a League One club in status but they remain a big club in stature if the level of betting on Gary Mac’s replacement is anything to go by.”
The Free Bet Bookmaker's favourite here is Aidy Boothroyd - a proper Championship manager who deserves to be given a big club to manage in order to prove himself. We think he's got what it takes to become a top flight manager eventually, but he just needs a proper crack of the whip. So at 5/1, he's great value, but will Leeds think so?
