Will Wie Ever Win? No - back Lorena Ochoa at 10/3 today and get a free bet with paddy power

She was the golden girl of golf for a while, but Michelle Wie has faded dramatically and is still trying to gain entry into the men's circuit with her eighth attempt at getting onto a tournament - this time at the USPGA. Good luck to her, but the talk of women's golf is not Wie anymore - it's Lorena Ochoa.
Last year's British Open champion Lorena Ochoa is currently -3 after one round, 4 off the pace which is close enough to keep her status as 10/3 favourite.
48-year old Juli Inkster was the talk of the day with an excellent -7 round of 65 - but the talk was all about Wie, whose non-appearance was another blow to women's golf. Someone who has hardly set the world alight, regularly failing to miss the cut in tournaments, who believes she can mix it with the men.
Wie was even disqualified a couple of weeks ago for failing to sign her scorecard, although she believes her game is getting better and better, and this time might be eighth time lucky.
However, at the women's open, it's Lorena Ochoa who has our vote - she's the reigning champion, the world number one, and at 10/3 represents decent value. You may be advised to wait until the second round is over to get slightly longer odds - but the Mexican oozes class and consistency.
